Michael Schumacher retires after this season

by jinn Email

I have just finished watching the Italian Grand Prix. Michael Schumacher won his 90th grand prix and announced during the post-race press conference that he would retire at the end of this season.

I'm not a fan of his. I don't agree with what he and the Ferrari team sometimes did to ensure his victory. But I have to admit he is a fantastic and quick race driver.

Kimi Raikkonen will replace him in Ferrari with Felipe Massa as their 2nd driver in 2007. Fernando Alonso had already announced that he would join Mclaren in 2007 *sniff*. Renault had earlier announced that Heikki Kovalainen will replace Alonso, and retained the service of Giancarlo Fisichella to complete the 2007 drivers line-up.

2006 season is coming to an end soon with 3 races to go. As it is right now, the 2007 season looks very interesting already.
